Jean Wheeler, Photographer
Deer Isle, Maine

Jean Wheeler lives on the Eggemoggin Reach on Deer Isle, in a wonderful 1840 Maine farmhouse that is the busy  Inn at Ferry Landing as well as home to the Wheelers. The incredible light on the island has been an inspiration to Jean, who came “home” to Deer Isle in 1996 by way of the seashore village of Bellport, New York where she was born and grew up, and Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Montreal, Quebec where she lived for 20 years. Self-taught and a purist in keeping the beauty of nature true to the original, Jean has been eager for years to pursue this passion of hers. She delights in capturing the brilliance and the peace of her environment, the unique wealth of material for both eye and camera on the island.

Jean was born in New York. She attended Northfield School, Syracuse University, University of Pittsburgh, McGill University and Montreal’s Thomas More Institute.

Photographs may be ordered signed, numbered and matted or unmatted, and are also for sale as hung in the Inn.
